What do you do in First Robotics?
FIRST ® Robotics Competition teams design, program, and build a robot starting with a standard kit of parts and common set of rules to play in a themed head-to-head challenge. Teams also build a brand, develop community partnerships for support, and work to promote STEM in their local community.
Why is First Robotics important?
FIRST builds powerful mentorship relationships between young people and STEM professionals, helping kids of all backgrounds gain confidence to explore the innovation process while they learn valuable science, engineering, technology, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Who is the founder of First Robotics?
FIRST was founded in 1989 by inventor and entrepreneur Dean Kamen, with inspiration and assistance from physicist and MIT professor emeritus Woodie Flowers.
What is FRC?
The functional residual capacity (FRC) is the resting volume at which the elastic recoil pressure of the lung inward equals the elastic recoil pressure of the chest wall outward, alveolar and mouth pressure are both zero, and there is no airflow.
What are the first core values?
FIRST Core Values
- Discovery: We explore new skills and ideas.
- Innovation: We use creativity and persistence to solve problems.
- Impact: We apply what we learn to improve our world.
- Inclusion: We respect each other and embrace our differences.
- Teamwork: We are stronger when we work together.
How do you start the first robotics team?

What do you know about robotics?
Robotics, design, construction, and use of machines ( robots ) to perform tasks done traditionally by human beings. Robots are widely used in such industries as automobile manufacture to perform simple repetitive tasks, and in industries where work must be performed in environments hazardous to humans.
What is the season registration cost for a First Tech Challenge team?
Season team registration for North American teams is $275.
What does robotics club do?
A robotics club is a gathering of students who are interested in learning about and working with robots. At robotics competitions, teams of students must design and build a robot that can compete against opponents in a series of specific challenges.
When was the first robot made?
The earliest robots as we know them were created in the early 1950s by George C. Devol, an inventor from Louisville, Kentucky. He invented and patented a reprogrammable manipulator called “Unimate,” from “Universal Automation.” For the next decade, he attempted to sell his product in the industry, but did not succeed.

What was the name of first robotics company?
India’s No 1 Robotics Educational Company IndiaFIRST® Robotics is the only robotics company in India which is building India’s first ever Robot Museum in Ahmedabad for the State Government of Gujarat in consortium with ESI, Kochi.
Who does the FRC report to?
The Financial Reporting Council ( FRC ) promotes transparency and integrity in business. It regulates auditors, accountants and actuaries, and sets the UK’s Corporate Governance and Stewardship Codes. FRC works with the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy.
How is FRC calculated?
Functional residual capacity (FRC) is the volume that remains in the lungs after a single quiet breath. It can be calculated by adding expiratory reserve volume and residual volume together such that: FRC = ERV + RV.
What is FRC in safety?
Flame-resistant clothing ( FRC ) refers to clothing that is designed to withstand heat or exposure to flame without combusting or breaking open for the purpose of protecting the wearer from burns. All flame-resistant clothing must not melt when exposed to heat.
